Postgraduate GP Training

It is a common misconception that trainee GP's are not yet qualified doctors. Anyone training to become a General Practitioner will have graduated as a Medical Doctor.

GP Trainer

New Forest Central Medical Group's GP trainer is Dr Mark Orton. He acts as a supervisor/mentor for qualified doctors undertaking General Practitioner training.

Undergraduate Training

To assist in the training of future doctors, our GPs will occasionally have students from Southampton University Medical School observing their clinics.

Patients will always be asked if they mind having a student in a consultation. Patients, however, may exercise their right to see the doctor alone. 

Recording of consultations

For teaching purposes, consultations are sometimes recorded using a video camera. Permission from the patient will always be sought in these cases.
